I purchased this TV for my mother about a year ago. It has blown 3 bulbs in that time. (The same 2-3 hundred dollar bulb thats supposed to last 3-4 years) 1st bulb blew after having the tv for about 5 months. 2nd bulb 4 months after the original bulb was replaced. 3rd bulb 2 months after the second bulb replaced. The TV is never left on or used for more than a couple hours. I'm sure that this was a manufacturing defect of some sort and we just happened to get one of the unlucky TVs. I have owned an HL-S6187W (different model / not slim) for well over a year, love it, and never had a problem with it). The tech company that came out to fix my moms said this was a known problem with this model. If you purchase this TV I strongly recommend getting an extended warranty. After many calls to that company & with samsung they are going to replace it with a HL-50A650. Hopefully the next TV will be OK. If we have any problems with it I will never buy another Samsung again.
