| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - Incredible value for price paid I also initially received just a monitor without the tuner module installed. I called the customer support number, asked the company to FedEx me the missing part, and they did. It was a metal box that looked a little like a car stereo, with a card-slot-type interface on one end. It slid into place in the unit like a video game cartridge into a console. Reattached four screws and was done. Should I have had to do this? No. Was it inconvenient? Yes. But the problem's taken care of, and I felt the company treated me fairly. Also, customer service tech said he had a list of the 37 TVs sent out with this problem. All of those have already shipped, so future buyers should not have this issue at all.
Now that the thing's complete, the picture is INCREDIBLE. Especially on 720p channels like ESPN HD and INHD, it is just astonishing how detailed, vivid and noise-free the image is. DVDs also look fantastic, even with my old, non-progressive scan Panasonic player. Regular SD cable channels look great, too; the processor in the TV does a good job sharpening them up.
The TV is also very stylish and attractive compared to others we looked at (including much more expensive models). The silver bezel around the monitor looks great, and the unit's stand is a heavy piece of metal with a sculptural arc to it, and with the same finish as the bezel.
My wife keeps asking, "Now, how come we can get a TV this good for half the price of a Sharp or Philips?" The only thing I can tell her is that those models are overpriced. Way overpriced. Even with the tuner mixup, I'm so happy with my purchase that I bought stock in Syntax-Brillian Corp. Go ahead; pull the trigger. You'll be thrilled. + See Full Customer Review | |
