This combo starts with the best DirecTV satellite receiver, adding 169time firewire outputs for recording HDTV from satellite & local DTV. This model HTL-HD receiver is brand new with all standard accessories & access card. A DirecTV subscription isnt required to make the purchase, but is needed to get satellite HDTV. The blue & white 169time AVX1 processor is included in this combo. Some other items needed (not included) to make HDTV recordings are the antenna system(s), firewire cables, HDTV monitor, and compatible recording device. Although the receiver has the Hughes brand name its equivalent to the Sony SAT-HD300 because it is virtually the same design, both made by LG, including the tuners, simultaneous HD & SD outputs, DVI, VCR control, & toslink. Although 169time can add firewire to a Sony HD300, theres no need to pay big bucks for the Sony name. The combo outshines HD-TIVO since its not limited by hard drive space. You can make unlimited recordings & keep them as long as you want, including backups. The recording process is digital so the exact HDTV quality of picture and sound from the broadcast are retained in backups. 169time also does this firewire upgrade to other compatible satellite receivers & services, but the advantage of getting this item is that 169time warranties the combo including the receiver, and there is no need to ship your receiver to 169time. Photos are the front of the satellite receiver, the rear of the receiver firewire ports, & the AVX1 processor. AVX1s are available in other colors & styles. Its also possible to make your own AVX1.
